📮 What Is Postal Voting?

Postal voting allows registered Australian voters to cast their ballots by mail if they cannot attend a polling station on election day. Governed by the Commonwealth Electoral Act 1918, this service is managed by the Australian Electoral Commission (AEC).

✅ Eligibility Criteria

Valid Reasons

  • Working/overseas on election day
  • Living > 20km from a polling station
  • Illness, disability, or pregnancy
  • Caregiving responsibilities

Requirements

  • Enrolled on the electoral roll
  • Valid Australian ID
  • Active email address

📝 How to Apply

  1. Visit the AEC Website
  2. Complete the Postal Vote Application (PVA) form
  3. Provide:
    • Full name as enrolled
    • Residential address
    • Australian driver’s license or passport number
  4. Upload proof of eligibility (if required)
  5. Submit before the deadline
